Project Overview
Theater Design Northwest installed 5.1 surround sound, calibrated audio and programmed an MX-450 RF remote control in the family room of this great home. The client and his contractor designed a built in cabinet for the fireplace to hide the components and were going to use IR extenders, but we suggested an RF all in one remote. A BluRay theater in a box system that came bundled with the TV was going in this, but after examing the existing components the clients owned we recommended using the existing gear and adding a Panasonic DMP-BD60K BluRay player, which resulted in better quality sound+picture. Another challenge was no tower speakers were allowed which was solved by custom installing a Pinnacle Quantum series (gloss black to match the HDTV) center channel on the TV mount. We then utilized the L/R/Surround ceiling speakers that were already there and installed the sub in the gear cabinet which will have a louvered door for ventilation and to let the sound through. A Niles speaker switcher was installed so the AV receiver can selectively power two pairs of patio speakers.

The clients ended up with a nice integrated system with only the HDTV visible and easy to use control with the Universal Remote. The RF remote will also allow them to mute or pause the outside music when listening on the deck.
