If you’ve ever done a high end/large format AV design/install or recording studio build, you know that finding well designed AV furniture, speaker stands and even speaker mounts is a near impossible task. Well, we encounter this weekly of course, and are fed up with the system! So, in parnership with our excellent metal fab guy Bruce Sims, we just design and build custom accessories when we the project requires it.
This includes racks, speaker stands/mounts and high end hardwood furniture/cabinets when required. One of the coolest is our entertainment furniture with rackmounted gear built in for a neat look, allows high gear density in a given space while still following the gear manufacturer’s recommendations for free air space.
By the way, if you have a power amp/AV receiver with another piece of gear stacked on top- move it now!! Overheated gear seriously shortens electronics life and your expensive pieces will blow if not properly ventilated. About half of the service calls we get from new customers with blown gear are caused by improper ventilation. There are a lot of installers and homeowners out there stacking with abandon, but it is not a viable way to install equipment for the long term. The best rule of thumb is to follow the manufacturer’s recommendations in the gear manual.
